Without a reservation, we were lucky to find a table available. We ordered hot chocolate and a flat white, a large full English breakfast, sea bass, eggs Benedict, and eggy bread. The overall dining experience was excellent, with attentive service and generous portions of delicious food. The sea bass, in particular, was very fresh. If you're in the area, I definitely recommend giving it a try!

Might be one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in the UK. Stopped here with my wife, 2 year old and baby recently without a booking. Warmly welcomed, a booster seat offered for the toddler and the food that followed was excellent. Opted for the eggy bread, with black pudding and sausages. Amazingly cooked and the black pudding was out of this world. Can’t wait to come back one day. Coffee was tasty too and dishes ordered by everyone else at the table went down well, with my wife loving her full English and toddler over the moon with his eggs, beans and sausages. A Cumbrian gem run by great people.

We’ve visited a couple of times now on a bistro night and the food is truly delicious! It’s hard to find somewhere locally that knows how to cook their meat and seafood properly- flavour combinations are on point and the 3 course deal makes this place a bargain too! The bistro menu changes monthly and this place is tiny so I would definitely recommend pre booking your table! Can’t wait to pop back in the summer to try some more seasonal goodies!

Absolutely gorgeous food, including beautiful vegan food. The place itself is a little awkward but then when the food comes, well worth it. Spot on chips too!

A tribe of us descended onto the cafe for breakfast this morning (apologies for so many appearing at once) Anyway, absolutely phenomenal all round. The mixed berry smoothie was just what i needed but the true star was the large breakfast. I'm a big guy and i can often scoff at 'large' breakfasts. This however was absolutely sensational. Amazing bacon and sauages, the potato rosti was absolutely phenomenal. The black pudding was fantastic and absolutely huge slab of it as well. The mushrooms i wish I'd asked what they were, but again amazing, beans and a huge slice of toast (incredibly thick which was fantastic for mopping up). The staff were absolutely lovely and gave such a warm welcome and you just felt happy being there. Arguably one of the best breakfasts I've ever had, i was too excited to tuck in i forgot to take photos , i will endeavour to do so next time.

We stumbled across Poppies on a day trip to Ulverston we both ordered Poppies breakfast & finished every last bit. I even asked for some jam for the toast we had left!!!! Everything was perfect, the welcome, the coffee, the food and even bringing our cutlery on a little plate. We’ll definitely return the next time we’re in the area.
